If you’ve been to one of ACEN’s in-person events, odds are you’ve met our Events and Meeting Coordinator, David Standish.
David spent most of his career in New York and Los Angeles working in the entertainment industry and hospitality. As a professional actor, he performed across the United States and Europe, sharing stages with Eartha Kitt, Audra McDonald, and songwriting legends John Kander and Fred Ebb.
In hospitality, he worked alongside celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay, Susan Feniger, and Masaharu Morimoto. Just prior to joining ACEN, he spent eight years in television casting at Warner Bros., working on shows like Riverdale, You, Claws, and Found, and did independent casting work for Vox Media, among others.
A Connecticut native, David and his husband Max recently settled in Providence, Rhode Island, where they're enjoying the food scene, hosting game nights, and indulging their shared love of theater.
What is one thing you're looking forward to accomplishing in your role?
I'm looking forward to raising the bar on our events, making sure every conference and panel reflects the expertise ACEN brings to nursing accreditation, while finding fresh ways to make them engaging and memorable for everyone who attends.
What do you do to address work-life balance, and how do you relieve stress?
I'm not sure anyone has truly figured out work-life balance, but I try. Exercise keeps me grounded, and at the end of a long day, nothing clears my head quite like reality television.
If you could instantly become an expert on one topic, what would it be?
I would love to be fluent in Spanish. I'm part Puerto Rican, and my mother valiantly tried to teach me as a child, but I stubbornly refused, much to my own detriment now.
What are 2-3 things your coworkers don't know about you?
I am a twin. I sang at the White House. I’m obsessed with Dairy Queen.
Be sure to say hello to David at the next ACEN Event!
