ACEN Announces Inaugural Programs of Distinction

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) is proud to announce the inaugural recipients of the ACEN Program of Distinction!

Celebrating the Inaugural Programs of Distinction

ACEN recognizes the following inaugural Programs of Distinction:

Blinn College District
  • Blinn College – Associate Nursing Program, Bryan, Texas; Initial Accreditation: June 1992
  • Mott Community College – Associate Nursing Program, Flint, Michigan; Initial Accreditation: October 1980

“The Program of Distinction sets a new benchmark for excellence—celebrating nursing programs that push the profession forward through vision, innovation, and proven results.”

— Nell Ard, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, ACEN Chief Accreditation Officer

Recipients were selected by the ACEN Standards and Criteria Committee, with final determinations made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners, based on specific criteria including, but not limited to, impactful stakeholder/community partnerships; comprehensive faculty development; robust student support services, curriculum best practices, and innovative strategies for improvement of student learning outcomes.

A Milestone for Nursing Education

As the first programs to receive the ACEN Program of Distinction, the inaugural recipients are helping establish the meaning and significance of this new recognition within nursing education.

The designation celebrates the collective work of nursing faculty, administrators, students, institutional leaders, and other stakeholders who contribute to sustained educational quality and continuous improvement.

Sharing the Distinction

Inaugural Programs of Distinction will receive the official ACEN Program of Distinction recognition mark, which may be displayed as a lock-up with the ACEN-Accredited seal on program websites and marketing materials. The designation will also be displayed independently next to designated programs in the ACEN Program Directory.

The recognition provides programs with a visible way to communicate their achievement to students, faculty, clinical partners, employers, alumni, and the broader nursing education community.

Learn More

The ACEN Program of Distinction is available to eligible ACEN-accredited nursing programs across all levels of nursing education. Programs have the opportunity to pursue the designation annually through the ACEN eligibility and application process.
