ACEN Program Completion Statement

ACEN has released a new Program Completion Position Statement addressing the importance of on-time program completion as an indicator of nursing program quality.

The statement provides guidance on establishing meaningful Expected Levels of Achievement (ELAs), monitoring completion outcomes, and using data to support program evaluation and improvement. ACEN recommends that programs establish an ELA with the goal that at least 50% of students complete the program on time.

The statement also clarifies that ACEN policies are not punitive and encourages programs to track and analyze why students do not complete on time to provide context for outcomes and inform program improvement.
