On January 17, ACEN senior leaders, Dr. Nell Ard, Chief Accreditation Officer, and Dr. Keri Nunn-Ellison, Senior Director, launched the new ACEN Regional Workshop at Troy University.
ACEN Regional Workshops are one-day training workshops offered in multiple regions throughout the year. This format was developed to bring ACEN initiatives closer to constituents, making professional development accessible, affordable, and impactful.
The first of these workshops featured the general session, Quality Nursing Education: Linking the Curriculum to Program Assessment, which examines the essential elements of a nursing curriculum that reflect quality education.
Attendees participated in discussions, hands-on activities, and networking opportunities, gaining insights into best practices in curriculum and assessment that align with the ACEN Standards and enhancing their programs’ alignment with accreditation expectations.
An optional peer evaluator session, Preparing for an Upcoming ACEN Site Visit, was also provided to current ACEN peer evaluators and those interested in becoming a peer evaluator.
Omin Chandler, Dalton State University, shared in her event feedback, “This workshop was very valuable and beneficial to me. It really enlightens my understanding and knowledge of linking my program's curriculum to the ACEN Standards.”
The ACEN is grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to making this inaugural workshop a success. We look forward to more opportunities for collaboration and professional growth in future regional workshops.
A special thank you to Troy University for hosting and to the attendees who made this event meaningful!
The next regional workshop, the Caribbean Regional Workshop, will be hosted at Universidad Ana G. Mendez – Cupey in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on April 4, 2025.
